Assoc. prof. Ph.D. Fabio Faraguna graduated with honours (magna cum laude) from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology at the University of Zagreb in 2011. In the same year, he was employed as a scientific novice at the Petroleum and Petrochemical Department and enrolled in postgraduate doctoral studies in Engineering Chemistry under the supervision of prof. Ph.D. Ante Jukić. He defended his doctoral thesis entitled "Improvement of carbon nanotube dispersivity un poly(styrene/methacrylate) composites by chemical functionalization" in 2014 and received his doctorate degree. One year after his doctorate, he was elected to the scientific title of scientific associate in the scientific field of technical sciences. Until 2018, he worked at the same faculty as a postdoctoral researcher and then he was employed as assistant professor at Petroleum and Petrochemical Department. After his doctorate, he received scientific training at the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China and at the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden, Germany. He was elected to the scientific title of senior scientific associate in the field of technical sciences in 2019. In 2022, he was a visiting scientist at the International Institute for Nanocomposites Manufacturing, WMG, University of Warwick, Coventry, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and in the same year he was employed as an associate professor. He is an external associate of the Croatian Accreditation Agency, where he is an assessor in two accreditation systems (EN ISO/IEC 17020, EN ISO/IEC 17025).
